Mpls/St. Paul Magazine voted "Groovin' Up Slowly" for inclusion in its "Best of the Twin Cities" 2005 guide.
"For more than a decade, vocalist Tresa Sauer has been infusing jazz and nonjazz standards with her singular sound. She's performed at nearly every Twin Cities jazz club and with some of the best musicians around. Collaborating with producer Tony Axtel and several A-list musicians, including Chris Lomhaim and Gordy Johnson, Sauer created a fresh and distinctive album. Its ten timeless tracks include the Beatles' 'Come Together,' a pair of Burt Bacharach/Hal David compositions, and 'I Only Have Eyes for You.' Best track: 'Blue Skies.' "

But also extremely talented newcomers like Tresa Sauer, Sean Wayland and Ben Darwish put some smooth interpretations of well-known and lesser-known classics Bealtes. It is a very harmonious plate, which solistischer with energy, diverse instrumentation and cool jazz Ness enthusiastic.”

"With treatments that avoid cliche and recycled ideas, a certain Miss Sauer makes everything fresh... plus some wise and surprising emphases in phrasing. Possessed of a voice that seems naturally smoky and sultry, Tresa also makes things warm and fuzzy in a relaxed, jazzy way. The liberties she takes with melody lines never seem cavalier; they serve the purpose of making you listen to a familiar lyric anew because of the resulting slight shift in focus."

"Over the course of these 10 diverse tracks, Sauer reveals a voice of many layers of emotion and nuance... an outstanding and overdue debut recording from an artist with a very individual style, one that should have wide appeal not only to fans of vocal jazz but to anyone who enjoys great tunes with fresh interpretations."
